Submissions are welcome, but ALWAYS include your full contact details at the beginning, end or in the footer or header of the manuscript, or we can’t necessarily get back to you if we want to publish your work.
We are interested in short and serialized fiction that’s generally in the vicinity of fantasy, science fiction, weird fiction, horror, mythology, fables, yarns, planetary romance, sea adventure, noir, historical divergence, magic realism, folklore, fairy tale, noir, lucid dream, and fanciful recombinations thereof. Visual art and multimedia are also welcome.
PLEASE make sure your submission is free of spelling and grammatical errors. Take the time to proofread and copy edit. It shows you care about your work and respects the fact that The Fabulist is run by volunteers.
We can’t provide editorial feedback for the bulk of the material we receive, but we do make suggestions to writers whose works we want to support. These suggestions are always offered with great earnestness and respect.
We will only contact you if we want to publish your story, as we lack the editorial capacity to provide detailed feedback on works that aren’t a match. Please accept our apologies on this. We greatly admire your effort, regardless of whether we are able to publish your work.
